Alí Allié, Producer/Writer
Alí Allié is the producer and director of “El Espiritu de mi Mama” (Spirit of my Mother) which told the fictional story of a Garifuna woman’s spiritual journey back to Honduras and her re-identification with her own culture. This film showed at film festivals worldwide and garnered a home video DVD distribution deal. It is well-known to the Garifuna community in the United States. Alí brings a wealth of experience from his previous venture in making a film immersed in Garifuna culture, as well as his well-tuned technical experience which he has refined as a cinematographer on many other films (most recently three independent features, Canary (2009), Amity (2012) and Child of God (2013)).
Ruben Reyes, Producer/Writer
Ruben Reyes, a Garifuna, comes to this project as a counterpart with vast knowledge of Garifuna culture and history and is a Garifuna language expert. In addition to teaching Garifuna language classes in Los Angeles in association with the Garifuna American Heritage Foundation United, Inc., he also hosts “The Sasamu Show” a weekly interview program on GariTV.com about Garifuna culture and community issues. Ruben also is also the inventor of the Garifuna clock, editor of the New Garifuna Dictionary and the designer of an enhanced Garifuna flag.
Ben Flores, Assistant Producer
Ben Flores is curator of the Garifuna Museum of Los Angeles (GaMoLA) and co-owner of Rootz Novelties, a source for Garifuna-themed clothing, crafts and accessories. He is the son of Don Justo Flores, a writer and musician who pioneered the writing of the Garifuna language.
Dudley Augustine, Associate Producer
Dudley Augustine, also known as King Stamina, “The Long Lasting Brand” is a Belizean Producer, Promoter and Investor, who in the last 15 years has produced Puntarock Concerts in Belize, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Las Vegas. As a member of Sta-Tic Productions, he along with business partner Vince “Aziatic” Lewis, have released in the last ten years, a series of concert dvd’s and albums featuring some of the best performers in Puntarock Music. Dudley Augustine is also an associate producer for Road 2 Damascus which opened the 2011 Belize International Film Festival.
Bill Flores, Writer
Bill Flores is the author of the play “Garinagu in Peril” which is one of the centerpieces of Part 1 in a children’s version. He is a member of the Garifuna Writers Group in Los Angeles.
Georgette Lambey, Choreographer
Georgette Lambey has been involved in cultural events in the Los Angeles area for a long time not only as a singer, dancer and drummer but also as a teacher. She has choreographed cultural groups for presentations all over Southern California. Georgette has recorded three albums as a solo artist and along with Belize’s finest Nuru.
